Counting down to the May 19 release of The King & I, Faith Evans drops a new music video today (April 21) for another track from her long-awaited duets album with late husband Notorious B.I.G. Titled “Legacy,” the mid-tempo tune features unreleased Biggie vocals in tandem with Evans singing about what was, what might have been and the strong connection between the two that still endures.
Taking a trip back to Biggie’s Brooklyn, New York stomping ground at St. James Place and Fulton Street, Evans revisits the pair’s relationship through home-movie type clips and photos. “I knew from the very first moment / That you were a king fit just for a queen,” she sings. “I could tell from day one that you were for me / Who knew that this love would be the legacy.
“If there were a title track for The King & I, it would be ‘Legacy,’ Evans tells Billboard. “This song absolutely sums up the theme of the album.”
Watch “Legacy,” directed by Rock Davis and Jay Rodriguez.
Produced by Evans and Stevie J, “Legacy” is the fourth selection from The King & Ifollowing earlier releases “When We Party” featuring Snoop Dogg, “NYC” featuring Jadakiss and “Ten Wife Commandments.” The 25-track set, with additional guest appearances by Busta Rhymes, Lil Kim and others, also boasts production by DJ Premier, Just Blaze, Salaam Remi and Chucky Thompson.
